Selling your home
If you are planning to sell your home, there are a few things that you can do to ensure that you get as close to the asking price as possible.
With the recent interest rate increases, and the inception of the National Credit Act, quite a damper has been put on the local property market, and many people are having a hard time when making an attempt to sell their home.
Buyers who are more in touch with the financial world and its' traits know that the best time to buy property is when market conditions are not good, but because not many are aware of this, it is essential that your home is always in a perfect condition.
Make your house 100% presentable
If possible, try to have furniture in the house when you are showing it to people. The human brain shrinks open spaces, so a big room will look smaller than it really is if it is empty. Be careful however of cramping it with too much furniture as this will make the room look cramped and, once again, smaller.
A thorough cleaning is essential - make sure that everything, even the top of doors, are sparkly clean. A dirty house will send a signal to potential buyers that the property is in a bad state, even if it is not. If you have the cash to spare, try to give some rooms a touch-up with some light coloured paint. This will also add to the size of the rooms.
